The Kalaeloa Airport provides a launch site for Coast Guard Search and Rescue operations, a training base for general aviation, an emergency response platform and extension of the capacity of HNL. MCG was asked to provide full architectural and construction phase services for Phase II of the new T-hangars and related infrastructure improvements. This included planning for 14,734 SF of new hangar space. The completed facility has eight hangar bays, each with utility rooms, trash, storage, and an office.
Our firm worked closely with the contractor and project team to optimize the design and meet the project budget, while offering improvements that included two buildings, each with 10 hangar bays in a ‘T-configuration’ and bi-folding hangar doors
