A new home for Seawolf Athletics and world-class facility for sports and entertainment! The dramatic curved roof of the Alaska Airlines Center covers a dynamic multi-use center with the flexibility to house events from a few hundred people, to a rocking, full house of 5,000. Its unique vertical design is unusual for an arena of this scale, putting spectators right on top of the action and amplifying the game-time experience.
A model of public/private partnership, this facility connects housing to the main campus and resolves difficult parking and traffic issues for the adjacent Providence Alaska Medical Center. The facility serves as both pathway and a stepping stone, connecting campus to student housing.
MCG collaborated with Hastings+Chivetta Architects on the planning and design of this project.
